Measurement of maxillary sinus volume using computerized tomographic images.

چکیده
This study measured maxillary sinus volume as an aid in determining the volume of graft bone needed before grafting autogenous bone to the maxillary sinus floor. Maxillary sinus volumes were measured from computerized tomographic images of 38 sinuses using a 3-dimensional reconstruction system. When the sinus-lift procedure was simulated, volumes (mean +/- SD) of the inferior portion of the sinuses were 4.02 +/- 1.44 cm3 for 15-mm lifting and 6.19 +/- 1.77 cm3 for 20-mm lifting. In bone grafting of the maxillary sinus floor, taking into consideration individual differences in maxillary sinus volume and resorption of the grafted bone, 5.46 cm3 or more were required for a 15-mm lift and 7.96 cm3 or more were required for a 20-mm lift.

Relationship between Anatomical Variations of Sinonasal Area and Maxillary Sinus Pneumatization
Introduction: Maxillary sinuses are among the largest paranasal sinuses with various shapes and volumes. The dimensions and volumes of maxillary sinuses play an important role in the surgical treatment plan. The higher levels of pneumatization of alveolar bone lead to the increase of odontogenic sinusitis which cause problems in dental implantation. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate...

Background and Aim: Accurate measurement of bone height and width is essential prior to dental implant placement. The method of surgery as well as, the type and size of implants are determined according to dimensions of the residual bone. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of linear tomography in localization of the floor of nasal fossa and maxillary sinus, and to determine ...

Introdouction: Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) is a relatively new three-dimensional imaging technology, which has been widely used in dental and maxillofacial imaging. Materials and methods: CBCT scans of 506 maxillary sinuses of 253 individuals (39.9% male and 60.1% female) were evaluated retrospectively for assessing the relationship between sinus mucosal thickening (MT) and dental a...

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the three-dimensional radiographic changes of 100% anorganic bovine bone xenograft volume in a grafted maxillary sinus, based on a computerized analysis of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) scan. MATERIALS AND METHODS A maxillary sinus augmentation procedure done with a lateral approach using 100% anorganic bovine bone was performed in 20 p...
